Spot gold rose 3.4% to $4,059.95 an ounce on Wednesday, its biggest daily gain since August, as the dollar index fell 0.5% to a one-month low following the US midterm elections, Reuters reports. Spot silver gained 4.9% to $52.23, platinum rose 5.6% to $1,496.40 and US gold futures climbed 3.4% to $4,073.10. Saxo Bank's Ole Hansen said gold could benefit if dollar pressure persists, and the move followed an ADP report showing only 2,000 private payroll gains against 40,000 expected.
