The precious metals industry has lost one of its builders. Ronald Frederick "Ron" Davies — who co-founded Colonial Metals and later Ames Goldsmith, where he served as Chairman — passed away on September 19, 2026, at the age of 94.
An RAF pilot and Cambridge chemistry graduate, Davies was also deeply involved with the International Precious Metals Institute across several committees. Colleagues remembered his dry wit, his determination, and a handshake that meant something.
Funeral services were held October 4 in Queensbury, New York.
