A rare 11th-century silver coin minted under Norway's King Olaf Haraldsson has surfaced from the Mørstad Hoard, the largest Viking Age coin hoard ever found in Norway. The “Pointed Helmet” penny reads “ONLAF R+ NORMANORV” — Olaf, King of the Norwegians — and is only the fifth known example of its type. Small knife cuts on both sides show it circulated for decades before burial, and it will go on display at the Historical Museum in Oslo from November 20.
