UA.NEWS, citing The Rio Times, reports Bolivia's international reserves rose 8.7% to $3.9328 billion by September 30, 2026 — an increase of $315.5 million from the end of June, driven mainly by gold purchases on the domestic market. The central bank bought 4.1 tonnes between July and September under Law No. 1503, lifting its gold holdings from 22.3 to 25.3 tonnes, valued at $3.3794 billion.
Gold's share of reserves climbed from 80% at the end of June to 87% by the end of September — a concentration the regulator itself describes as not recommended, pointing to the need for greater diversification — even as liquid foreign-currency reserves fell 28.4% to $474.2 million on payments for external obligations.
