Precious metals traders at the world's top banks posted record first-half profits and are on track for their best year ever, Bloomberg reports via Mining.com. JPMorgan alone earned about $700 million from trading and handling gold, silver and other precious metals in the first half of 2026, while Deutsche Bank's bullion desk has brought in more than $200 million.
Globally, banks are set to make approximately $5 billion from the business this year — the most on record in Crisil Coalition Greenwich's data — as surging investor interest, sharp price swings, and pricing dislocations between trading hubs generate huge opportunities for dealers.
