Archaeologists in Russia have unearthed more than 2,600 medieval silver coins near Moscow, the largest hoard of early-1400s Russian silver ever discovered, including over 350 previously unknown varieties. Researchers believe the wealthy owner may have died in one of the plague epidemics that swept the region between 1425 and 1427, never returning for the fortune hidden inside a ceramic jug.
